Russia Removed from Eurovision!

Russia, which entered Ukraine with its military units, continues to face various sanctions after the invasion. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) made some statements about the Eurovision Song Contest after Russia declared war against Ukraine. In their statements, EBU Officials officially announced that Russia will not be able to participate in the competition to be held in Italy in May, as it could damage the reputation of the competition.

Sports organizations such as the Champions League and Formula 1 announced that they had suspended all their events to be held in Russia, and another restriction came from the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held between 10-14 May.

In its first statement, the European Broadcasting Union stated that it would not prevent Russia from participating in the competition and received very harsh reactions from both the masses and the countries, but in the statement they made today, they announced that they preferred to step back and that they made the decision to exclude Russia from the giant music event by consulting the opinions of EBU members.
